  • Dr. Matthew West is a Term Assistant Professor of Global Affairs. Dr. West is broadly interested in phenomena at the intersections of the legal and the economic as sites to further our critical understanding of globalization's unequal circulations of knowledge, people, and things.

  • Caroline West is a Term Assistant Professor in the Honors College. Her research is broadly centered in cultural and media studies with special focus in photography and visual culture, theories of race and gender, and political economy.

  • Rebecca Howick has over 14 years of experience at George Mason and has focused over 8 years of her career on entrepreneurship education at CIE. Rebecca is a proud alumna of George Mason (M.E.d., ‘15). Her educational background in social work and counseling/human development contributes to CIE's focus on creating programs that support social impact and experiential learning. She is responsible for the leadership of the operational team and supporting the Executive Director in developing and implementing strategic initiatives.

    As a child, Nathaniel Socks said he was restless, and could often be found tapping his hands on nearby objects. His mom enrolled him in drum lessons in second grade, he said, which led to his favorite hobby—one that taught him valuable life lessons.

    “I got to see how if you put in hard work and dedicate yourself to something really hard, how cool the product can be,” the incoming George Mason University freshman said. “That was one thing that really got me into drumming—you can see the progression of practicing.”
