Mason Shuttles
Mason Shuttles make it simple for students to get where they need to go. The free shuttle system connects the Fairfax Campus, Mason Square, and the Science and Technology Campus with popular destinations such as shopping centers, grocery stores, Metro stations, and regional transit hubs. Whether students are heading to class, picking up essentials, or meeting friends for a night out, Mason Shuttles provide a safe, convenient, and reliable way to travel without the hassle of driving or parking.
CUE Bus
The City of Fairfax operates the CUE Bus system, which connects George Mason's Fairfax Campus to various destinations in the city, including shopping centers and the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station.
Metrobus and Metrorail (WMATA)
The Washington, D.C., area boasts a world-class transportation infrastructure with quick and easy access points to the area's cultural centers, business districts, and unique and diverse communities. The Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA) offers a variety of ways to get around, with Metrobus stops located on and near the Fairfax Campus and Mason Square in Arlington, as well as convenient Metrorail stations at Nutley Street (Fairfax, Vienna) and Virginia Square (Arlington).
Driving to campus? Students can purchase pre-paid passes for our well-lit and professionally maintained parking facilities at the Fairfax and SciTech campuses and Mason Square. Choose from a variety of options tailored to your schedule, needs, and budget—all available on the Parking and Transportation website.
George Mason encourages students to explore all the myriad ways to get to campus. Carpooling is a great way to get to and from campus, and it also helps the university curb its carbon emissions and decrease traffic on campus.
When you decide to bike to George Mason, you’re making a positive choice for the environment while also contributing to your physical and emotional well-being. As a designated Bicycle-Friendly University, we strongly encourage members of our community to opt for this sustainable mode of transportation whenever it is safe and feasible. With convenient bike racks, bike lanes, and bike pumps and fix-it stations located across our campuses, biking around George Mason is fast, easy, and fun.
Need wheels? A limited number of bikes are available to check out at no cost with your Mason ID. Additionally, the university has partnered with the City of Fairfax to offer our community access to Bird and Lime dockless e-scooters for cruising around campus and beyond. Capital Bikeshare DC also provides George Mason students a discount on its annual membership fees.
