Monika Blakely has lived all over the world, but her time at George Mason University has been particularly special.

As part of its commitment to sustainability and community engagement, George Mason University Korea held its fifth annual beach clean-up at Masian Beach in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, on April 19. Students, faculty, and staff from both Mason Korea and the University of Utah Asia Campus participated.

Growing up, George Mason University senior Haila Salaheddine was not a big fan of going to the dentist. “I was initially very fearful of the dentist. When I was living in Lebanon, there wasn’t really preventative care for oral hygiene,” said Salaheddine, a community health major.

As the saying goes, if you love something, set it free. If it maps an area, finds a target, delivers a package, and comes back, the trophy is yours forever. Or something like that.

Through her coursework and on- and off- campus jobs, health administration major Claire Leonard has gained experience in various health and business layers of health care.

Bioinspired blimps performed swimmingly

Death has been the constant companion in Steven Luu’s life—from war-torn Vietnam to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. But through art, Luu, now an MFA student at George Mason University’s School of Art, has discovered peace, purpose, and a path to healing.

Meet this year’s student speaker for the Class of 2025 Commencement ceremony, Duy Vu. He’s a double major from the Schar School and the Costello School of Business.

Tyler Kocak is graduating with an MEd in secondary education after a successful tenure on the George Mason wrestling team.

Haoling Wang was taking a professional skills development course taught by Karen King, an associate professor in business foundations at the Costello College of Business, when he was encouraged by her to take advantage of the resources being offered by the college.
