The Costello College of Business at George Mason University announced a significant increase in scholarship money awarded to students—$1.3 million for the 2024-2025 academic year—$500,000 of which went to named scholarships. Over the past five years, both the total amount of scholarship funding and the number of students who have received Costello scholarships have more than doubled.

When Supreet Singh immigrated to the United States from India in 1999, it was to join her husband, Jaspreet, whom she had met through an online dating site. The couple married in Fairfax, Virginia—the same city where Jaspreet graduated from George Mason University years earlier. Knowing Supreet’s ambition to build on her master’s degree in biochemistry, Jaspreet encouraged her to enroll at George Mason.

Working full-time while getting a graduate degree is no easy feat. But for Air Force veteran and soon-to-be George Mason University alum Kathleen Gillmore, hard work is second nature.

Sidney Yap, BS Information Systems Operations Management ‘20, MS Management ‘21, Business Analytics Grad Cert ‘22, MBA ‘25, exemplifies exceptional balance—driving innovative strategies at Navy Federal while representing the Philippines internationally in the hammer throw. 

After taking the Survey of Accounting 203 course with Muhammad Awais (BS Accounting ‘13, MS Accounting ‘14), an adjunct instructor at the Costello College of Business, Khaled Alkurd knew everything he needed to know to switch his area of study from marketing to accounting.

Skip West, founder of MAXSA Innovations and adjunct faculty at the Costello College of Business at George Mason University, offers the course Turning Ideas into Successful Companies once a year to MBA students. The concept for the course came from West’s own entrepreneurial experiences of turning his ideas into companies.

Receiving the Janis S. Reed Scholarship sharpened the focus even more for the goal-oriented Anh Tran. Wrapping up her final semester as an undergraduate student in accounting and completing the bachelor’s to accelerated master’s (BAM) program, she already had her eyes on the larger picture.

Meet Bo Galles, our Costello MS in Real Estate Development Student Ambassador, who brings his experience as a retail broker at KLNB, specializing in pad sites and new construction projects. He encourages aspiring candidates to join industry organizations like NAIOP and attend networking events to build valuable connections.

Each summer, MBA students at the Costello College of Business travel abroad as part of their global residency experience. John Davis, the Costello MBA student ambassador, shared his experience and the project he and his team completed in the UAE.

Katie Kacher, the 2023-24 master’s in business analytics Student of the Year is proof that hard work, motivation, and organization are the key ingredients to success in graduate business school. Kacher chose the Donald G. Costello College of Business at George Mason University for her graduate degree, primarily due to George Mason’s reputation for high caliber coursework and student outcomes.
