Biography
Dr. Tauheeda Yasin is an Affiliate Faculty member at George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government and serves as Deputy Director in the Office of Community Safety in Prince William County. Her research focuses on data transparency, public safety governance, and legislative reforms, particularly related to funding for the legal system and criminal justice reforms. Dr. Yasin leads the Legal Systems and Policy Lab, which conducts research on innovative lawmaking practices and evidence-based policymaking tools.
As part of her commitment to civic engagement, Dr. Yasin designs and leads datathons that bring together students and community members to create accessible datasets and tools for policymakers. Her current projects include a national study of state-level monetary sanctions and their long-term impact on public safety, as well as community-based research on violence intervention ecosystems. In her role with Prince William County, she oversees interagency collaboration and public safety initiatives that utilize data-driven strategies to improve life outcomes for communities.
