Be a Sport. Or Lead a Sport
All you need is enthusiasm and the desire to get your game on.
Work hard. Play hard. At Mason, we’re serious about fun.
In fact, you could say we major in it, starting with 22 men’s and women’s NCAA Division I athletic teams, part of the elite Atlantic 10 Conference. Paint your face green and gold and cheer until you’re hoarse at a men’s basketball game at the Patriot Center. There are also plenty of opportunities to play on a team through intramural and club sports. (Quidditch or underwater hockey anyone?)
Get moving.
Speaking of water, you can also swim laps, take a Zumba or Pilates class, squash your opponent on the squash court, or clear your head with a yoga class. Still not tired?
The university has lots of work-out facilities, so there’s really no excuse not to break a sweat.
- The Aquatic and Fitness Center has two pools, exercise rooms, and cardio and weight equipment.
- The Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC) boasts three gymnasiums, racquetball courts, squash courts, a two-story fitness gallery, and a Freshens Smoothie Bar for after your workout.
- Skyline Fitness Center, connected to Southside Dining and centrally located on the Fairfax campus, has a fitness gallery and basketball court for pick-up games.
Hang at the Hub
Exercise your right to skip the exercise. The Corner Pocket, located in The Hub, is the place that the Mason community goes to relax and have fun right on campus. Pool, foosball, air hockey, table tennis, video games—there’s something for everyone. Texas Hold’em? Yes, we have playing cards for that, too.
