The start of the 2021/2022 Center for the Arts season has already been such a gift welcoming back audiences to in-person performances in the Concert Hall. Now that the holidays are around the corner, the Center is thrilled to continue the gift of the arts with more joyful and festive performances for the entire family.
On November 27 at 8 p.m., the Center welcomes the return of internationally-acclaimed musical quintet Canadian Brass in Making Spirits Bright, a cheery kick-off to the holiday season. Renowned for joyous performances and their iconic white running shoes, this quintet will warm your heart with sparkling brass standards and toe-tapping holiday favorites. “After four decades, it’s great to see Canadian Brass—practically an institution at this point—still sounding fresh, still attracting young virtuosos and, above all, still having fun with the music” (NPR Tiny Desk Concert).
Next, Lightwire Theater presents two thrilling, Family Series performances of A Very Electric Holiday on November 28 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Gather the whole family for this imaginative story cleverly told with cutting edge electroluminescent puppetry in the dark, featuring live dancers, and a lively mix of classical, jazz, and pop music. Featured on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Lightwire Theater leaves viewers in awe and wonder with breathtaking live productions company Rolling Stone calls “absolutely incredible.” The following weekend, the Center is thrilled to welcome the debut of NEA Jazz Master and GRAMMY award-winner Dianne Reeves for her concert Christmas Time is Here on December 2. The holidays at the Center would not be complete without the cherished annual performance of Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season by the American Festival Pops Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Anthony Maiello.
